神流川水系 / The Kanna River water system

神流川水系は、群馬県と埼玉県を流れる利根川水系の二次支川だ。秩父多摩甲斐国立公園に位置する群馬県多野郡上野村の白泰山を源流とし、そこから群馬県と埼玉県の県境を東へ流れ、最終的に埼玉県本庄市で利根川の支流である烏川に合流する。
上流部は山深い渓谷となっており、豊かな自然が残されている。特に、上野村漁業協同組合が管理する区間では、美しい渓相と清らかな水質が保たれ、ヤマメやイワナといった渓流魚の宝庫として知られている。キャッチ＆リリース区間が設けられるなど、資源保護にも積極的に取り組んでいるため、多くの釣り人に愛される場所となっている。
一方、中流から下流にかけては、川幅が広がり、両岸に広がる平地を潤す重要な役割を担っている。農業用水として利用されるほか、生活用水としても活用され、地域の暮らしを支えている。
The Kanna River water system is a secondary tributary of the Tone River system, flowing through Gunma and Saitama Prefectures. Its source is Mount Hakutai in Ueno Village, Tano District, Gunma Prefecture, located in the Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park. From there, it flows east along the border between Gunma and Saitama Prefectures, eventually joining the Karasu River, a tributary of the Tone River, in Honjo City, Saitama Prefecture.
The upstream area is a deep valley with rich natural surroundings. Particularly in the sections managed by the Ueno Village Fishery Cooperative, the beautiful scenery and pristine water quality are preserved, making it known as a treasure trove for mountain stream fish such as yamame trout and iwana. Active efforts are made for resource conservation, including the establishment of catch-and-release sections, making it a beloved spot for many anglers.
Meanwhile, from the middle to lower reaches, the river widens and plays a crucial role in irrigating the plains that spread out on both banks. In addition to being used for agricultural water, it is also utilized for domestic water, supporting the lives of the local communities.
